Commission process

From reference to finished jewelry

Send what you have. I'll work out the likely scope, then you see the design and final quote before the piece goes into production.

    Send the idea

    References, piece type, size, budget, metal, stones, and any detail that cannot be lost.

  2. 02

    I review the job

    I look at wear, comfort, structure, and whether the idea can be made well. Not every request is accepted.

  3. 03

    Range and design fee

    If it's a fit, I send an estimated range. Most accepted jobs then begin with the $250 design fee, which goes toward the finished piece.

  4. 04

    Concept and revisions

    You get one initial concept and up to 2 revision rounds.

  5. 05

    Approve the sketch and quote

    Once the design feels right, I confirm the final quote. The remaining balance is due before production.

  6. 06

    CAD, casting, and bench work

    The exact route depends on the piece. Specialist U.S. jewelry shops may handle CAD, casting, setting, engraving, enamel, or finishing.

  7. 07

    Final inspection and shipping

    I inspect the finished jewelry before it leaves. Any approved shipping charges are handled before shipment.

At the bench

The route changes with the piece.

Some jobs begin in CAD, some need wax work, and some spend more time under a loupe than anywhere else. Casting, setting, engraving, enamel, and finish all depend on what the design asks for.

I stay on the direction, approvals, and final standard. When a specialist is the right person for a step, I say so.

A revision round

One clear set of notes on the current design.

Put the changes together after you've had time to look. It keeps the direction clear and avoids fixing one detail twice.

Payment

Ask first. Approve before production.

Most accepted commissions begin with a $250 design fee. It holds the project's place, starts the design, and goes toward the finished piece. Once design work begins, that fee is non-refundable. One concept and up to 2 revision rounds are included. After the sketch and final quote are approved, the balance is due before CAD, materials, or production. Nothing extra is charged without approval.
