What to expect when you commission a piece

Request, review, and estimate

A request costs nothing and does not reserve a production date. I review whether the piece can be made comfortably and durably, whether specialist work is needed, and what timing is realistic. You then receive an estimated price range and schedule. The estimate is not the final quote.

Design fee, concept, and changes

Most commissions require a $250 design fee. It goes toward the finished piece and becomes non-refundable once design work begins. The fee includes one concept and up to two rounds of changes. One round is one collected list of notes on the current design. A new direction, another concept, or more changes may affect the price or timing, but you will approve that in writing first.

Final price and production payments

After you approve the sketch and final price, complex work generally requires half of the amount left after the design fee before CAD or other detailed design work begins. After you approve that design, the remaining balance is due before casting or before materials and stones are purchased.

Simple work without CAD may require the remaining amount before production. Unusual materials, stones, or outside services may need a different payment schedule. No charge is added without your approval. Design work, materials, CAD, specialist services, and production costs may become non-refundable after they have been ordered or completed.

Technical changes and specialist work

Small technical adjustments may be needed for comfort, strength, casting, stone security, finish, or quality. You will approve any meaningful change to the appearance. Established U.S. jewelry professionals may help with sketching, CAD, casting, stone setting, engraving, enamel, polishing, or finishing as part of the production plan.

Schedule, Shipping, Customs, and Returns

Schedules are estimates unless a deadline is accepted in writing. U.S. shipping is normal; international delivery is considered destination by destination and confirmed in writing. Tracking is used, and a signature is normally required unless the written order says otherwise. Full-value insurance is not promised by this page. Customs and import charges are the customer’s responsibility unless agreed otherwise in writing. Custom work has no change-of-mind return window.

Arrival Issues and Warranty

Visible shipping damage or product issues should be reported within seven days with photographs and retained packaging. A one-year limited warranty from delivery covers qualifying material or workmanship defects. Depending on the case, the remedy may be repair, remake, or refund. Character rights, design files, and privacy

You keep your rights in your character and submitted artwork while respecting the rights of the original artists. You must own or have permission to use every reference you submit. Lunar Forgeworks keeps its rights to its own sketches, CAD, production files, prototypes, process materials, photos, and videos unless we agree otherwise. The exact commissioned design will not be made for another customer without your permission.

Tell me through the quote form or before paying the design fee if the project must stay private. Uploaded references are stored privately. There is no guaranteed automatic deletion date, but you may ask to have them deleted unless copies are still needed for an active project or required business records.
